Postby ramverma » Wed Feb 28, 2018 8:33 pm

When I try to access hive shell in hortonwork, it is not starting and just hanging at one point in hortonwork 2.6

It was running fine but suddenly it stopped

hdfs@localhost:~$ hive
18/02/28 05:41:15 WARN conf.HiveConf: HiveConf of name hive.custom-extensions.root does not exist
log4j:WARN No such property [maxFileSize] in org.apache.log4j.DailyRollingFileAppender.

Logging initialized using configuration in file:/etc/hive/2.6.2.0-205/0/hive-log4j.properties

It is due to configuration change. decrease the value of tez.am.resource.memory.mb in tez.
Tez is not finding enough resource to start hive

set tez.am.resource.memory.mb=2048 (solved the hive hang issue. you can also set 4096 if value is very high)
